Sept 9 Reuters Investor morale in the euro zone fell for a third consecutive month in September, a survey showed on Monday, dropping to its lowest level since January amid dissatisfaction over the state of the economy, particularly in Germany.
The Sentix index for the euro zone fell to 15.4 points for August from 13.9 in August. Analysts polled by Reuters had expected it to recover to 12.5 this month.
The survey from Sept. 59 among 1,142 investors, querying both satisfaction with the current state as well as future expectations, showed that the euro zone index on expectations recovered slightly to 8.0 points from 8.8 in August.
The current situation score for the region, in turn, dropped to 22.5 from 19.0 in August.
The political and economic chaos in Germany is a heavy burden on the entire euro zone, Sentix said in a statement.
The only hope for investors in this context is the prospect of a supportive monetary policy, it added.
Investor morale fell further in Germany, Europe39;s largest economy, to 34.7 in September from 31.1 in August. The index on the current situation in Germany dropped to 48.0 in September from 42.8 in August.
