BERLIN, June 28 Reuters The number of people out of work in Germany rose more than expected in June, showing how economic weakness is taking its toll on the labour market.
Federal Labour Office figures showed on Friday that the number of unemployed grew by 19,000 in seasonally adjusted terms. Analysts polled by Reuters had expected that figure to rise by 15,000.
The weakness in the labour market continues, said labour office head Andrea Nahles.
The seasonally adjusted jobless rate rose to 6.0 from 5.9 in the previous month.
Companies are still cautious in their search for new staff, Nahles said.
There were 701,000 job openings in June, 69,000 fewer than a year ago, the office said.
